George Is Getting Upset of the Day: Mitt Romney loves to quote George Costanza at debates and rallies. He’s done it at least three times in the past, including during last night’s CNN debate.

Except he gets it wrong every time.

“As George Costanza would say, when they’re applauding, stop,” he told last night’s audience. “Remember the George Costanza line? When they’re laughing and applauding, you sit down,” Romney said at a December 7th debate which also aired on CNN. “As George Costanza said, ‘when they applaud, just stop,” was the variant he used in a South Carolina town hall.

The line, of course, is “When you hit that high note, you say goodnight and walk off.” And it was uttered by Jerry, not George.

Costanza actor Jason Alexander doesn’t seem to mind that Romney repeatedly botches the line. He has other concerns on his mind. Actual concerns. (La-dee-da.)

“Thrilled Gov. Romney enjoys my old character,” tweeted Alexander after last night’s debate. “I enjoyed the character he used 2 b 2. If he’d embrace that again, he’d b a great candidate.”

Watch Mitt Romney’s latest attempt at humanizing his image by quoting a Seinfeld line he clearly asked someone to give him so he could appear more human but then misremembered and hasn’t bothered to correct himself since ultimately doing the opposite of what he intended to do:
